Our Training Programs

Scarborough Underwater Club Inc. offers several training courses throughout the year.

We hold a "Discover Scuba" event twice yearly - usually in March and September. This event allows those people who have at least thought about giving Scuba a try - a chance to put on some gear and take a tour with one of our Divemasters in our home pool located at the Centennial Recreation Centre located at:  1967 Ellesmere Road , Scarborough (between Bellamy and Markham Rd on the south side of Ellesmere).

Under the direction of our Training Director - Mike McCabe - we are fortunate to have a number of Instructors and Divemasters plus many other member vollunteers that allow us to offer many different courses such as:

- Open Water Certification (This allows you to sport dive to a depth not deeper than 60 ft).

- Advanced Open Water Certification (this allows you to sport dive to a maximum depth of 130ft).

- Rescue Diver - this course offers training in skills that may arise in a diving emrgency.

- Master Scuba Diver - this certification is gained by taking several specific interest courses.

- Dive Master - this is the entry level into becoming a Professional Diver.

- Assistant Instructor - this is the pre-cursor course on your way to becoming a Dive Instructor.

- Instructor - There are several levels and directions you can go once you reach this level.
